Trip to Yogyakarta - Kraton & Taman Sari

Next trip was to visit Kraton Yogyakarta and Taman Sari.

Taman Sari is a Sultanate swimming pool back to hundred years ago). It was used by the Sultan himself and his family, including his concubine and their children.

There are 3 separate pool, one was used by his wife and children, the other was used by his concubine. The pool used by the Sultan himself was built separated from other pool. It had a sleeping chamber with stoves underneath. The stove was used for burning fragrances, when the scent came out, they pulled out the stoves.









































Taman Sari itself actually was built in a large area and was connected with the Sultanate Palace through a large lake and surrounded with fruit and vegetable garden. But unfortunately, right now the lake was turned into a village.














Underneath the lake was built a mosque. Inside the mosque, female pilgrims used below floor and male pilgrims used upstairs floor. Nowadays, this mosque used as a photography place by a prospective bride.
